The Process
Things To Consider:
The first step in creating your website is meeting with me. We meet either in person or communicate on the phone or by e-mail to help you determine exactly what you want and need from your website.
By answering the following questions, I can help you to determine your basic needs.
- What is the goal of your website?
- Who are your users? What is your target audience?
- What is your identity or theme? How would you like to be presented?
- What kind of content do you want? Which features would you like to implement?
- Do you currently have a website or would this be a first website?
- Do you have a logo or would you like me to design one for you?
- Would your website require regular content additions or updates?
Choices
Deciding on which features to include on your website can be a challenging process. That's why I have created three simple packages to choose from: Light, Standard, and Premium. Each package is made up of features that will help your website function.
Custom Packages
If you wish to add or remove features from one of my pre-packaged offers, I can accommodate you by creating a custom package. I can help you to decide exactly what you want from your web site in order to fit your needs. If you want something created that is not on my features list, feel free to ask me. I will do everything possible to accommodate your needs.
Content
Content is the heart of any website. The next step in building your website is supplying me with content. If you have existing content I will import that content for you. You supply me with whatever it is you want initially displayed on your website.
If you choose, I can also have someone create content for you. You provide us with the details and we do the rest. It’s that simple.
- Text
It is best to send me text content as a Microsoft Word file or in the body of an e-mail. You may also send me a CD or flash drive with text. Hand written content is also acceptable but not recommended however because it may slow down the process.
- Images and Video
Photographs and video may also be provided by e‐mail, CD or flash drive. For photographs, it is best to send me compressed or uncompressed .jpg, .gif, or .png file types. If you have images that are not in computer format I can scan them for you. For videos I can accept a large variety of file types of compressed or uncompressed video.
Creation
Now comes the fun part! After meeting with you I develop a profile for your website and design a prototype template based on your needs. I then upload it to my server so you can review the template and make decisions on it.
After a template has been approved, I program in your content and the website takes life. During this stage you will be able to view the website and help me design it to best fit your needs.
